David spent 10 years working as an EMT/Paramedic before graduating from the University of Maine. He built electronic circuits and managed a student computer lab, which is where he found his niche. Since 1992, he has developed his diagnostic skills and instinctive abilities in computer service and repair, and in finding solutions to most problems. He has been an Apple Certified Technician for over 18 years. He also has a talent for teaching the novice, as well as the seasoned, Mac user.

• scheduleHow long will the repair take?
  Depending on the nature of the problem and how busy the shop is, repairs can take anywhere from 2-10 business days. Rush services are available for a fee. Software problems such as OS installations and virus removals take less time because we do not need to order parts.
• paymentHow much will this be?

  Repair costs are based on the cost of parts and labor. After your computer is diagnosed, a technician will contact you with repair options and costs.
  Standard labor charges are $84 an hour, and we only bill for hands-on time.

  Approximate labor costs for common services:

  • Diagnostic (laptop) : 30-90 minutes.
  • Diagnostic (iMac): 30- 120 minutes
  • Hard drive replacement: 30-45 minutes
  • RAM installation: 15 minutes
  • Data recovery: 60 minutes
  • Logic board replacement: 90 minutes
  • Virus removal: 30 minutes
  • Operating system reinstallation: 30 minutes.

  NOTE: These estimates do not include wait time. We perform thorough hardware testing as part of any repair. These tests are not hands-on time, so they are not billed, but they do take several hours to complete.

  We do not sell refurbished computers or IOS devices. We have heard good things about Macs4U as a used computer resource. You can also buy refurbished machines straight from Apple by visiting the Apple store.
  If you’ve recently purchased a used computer, we offer hardware testing and OS reinstallation to make sure that your new computer is working fine and malware-free. We can also offer clean bills of health for users looking to sell their computer.

  There are many causes for slow computers. If your computer has suddenly begun running slowly, it might mean that you have malware or a hardware problem. Failing hard drives commonly cause sudden, extreme slowdowns.
  Do not install programs which promise to make your computer faster. They are usually malware. Your mac does not need it’s registry, RAM, or file system cleaned.
  If your computer has always been slow, a RAM upgrade or new hard drive might give you the boost you’re looking for. Solid state hard drives are significantly faster than the spinning drive your computer probably has now, and they can be installed for as little as $100.
